Holding a Master’s in Elementary Education and Qualified Teacher Status, I have worked extensively with students from early years through secondary level, including English language learners and those requiring additional learning support. My background in early intervention, ESL instruction, and inclusive classroom practices has equipped me with the empathy, adaptability, and expertise needed to help students with special educational needs thrive academically and personally. I am passionate about fostering a nurturing environment where each child feels valued, capable, and confident in their learning journey.

How I teach children with SEND

About me, my expertise, qualifications and SEND experience

I am an experienced and compassionate educator with a Master’s in Elementary Education and Qualified Teacher Status. Over my 20-year teaching career across the US and UK, I have supported diverse learners as an ESL teacher, classroom teacher, and early intervention specialist. My background includes coordinating care for children with special needs, designing inclusive lessons, and collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure every student’s success. I am passionate about creating nurturing, accessible learning environments that empower students with SEND to build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

How I teach students with ADHD, PDA, and Autism.

I teach students with ADHD, PDA, and Autism by creating structured, flexible, and supportive learning environments that celebrate individual strengths. My approach combines clear routines, visual aids, and multi-sensory activities to maintain engagement and reduce anxiety. I build trust through consistency, empathy, and open communication with both students and families. Lessons are differentiated to allow choice and autonomy, helping each learner feel in control and valued. Above all, I focus on fostering confidence, curiosity, and connection in every learning experience.

I support students with developing communication skills through patience, structure, and creativity.  My lessons emphasize active listening, emotional regulation, and turn-taking within safe, low-pressure interactions. By incorporating interests, I create opportunities for authentic expression and connection. I celebrate every step of progress, ensuring students feel heard, understood, and confident in their ability to communicate.

How I help students engage with learning

I help students engage with learning by creating lessons that are interactive, meaningful, and tailored to their individual interests and strengths. I use a variety of hands-on activities, visual supports, and technology to make learning accessible and fun.

How I make lessons fun

I make lessons fun by bringing creativity, movement, and curiosity into every activity. I use games, hands-on projects, and real-world connections to spark excitement and engagement. Humor, positive energy, and student choice keep learners motivated and invested.

How I help students with focus, attention and emotional regulation

I use clear routines, visual schedules, and short, manageable tasks to reduce overwhelm. Calm spaces, movement breaks, and mindfulness strategies support self-regulation throughout the day. I teach students to recognize their emotions and use coping tools to stay centered and ready to learn. My goal is to help each child develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of control over their learning journey.
