I'm on a mission to unlock each student's unique potential. Through a range of challenges, I help them discover their own spark for learning!”

About Me
I am a dedicated educator with 15 years of experience, specialising in personalised tutoring for students with SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, PDA, SLCN, SEMH, and more. My approach blends academic support with holistic practices like mindfulness and creative therapeutic methods. With a Master’s in Mindfulness-Based Approaches and extensive SEND experience, I create low-arousal, supportive environments tailored to each student’s needs. My focus is on building confidence, a growth mindset, and essential academic skills, empowering students to thrive both academically and emotionally.
How I teach children with SEND
As an educator passionate about inclusive learning, I believe every student has incredible potential, regardless of their unique challenges. My teaching adapts to each student’s learning style and pace, focusing on building intrinsic motivation and fostering a growth mindset. I integrate students’ hobbies and interests into lessons, celebrating small wins to inspire self-confidence and resilience.
I create personalised learning plans for each child using a trauma-informed approach. For example, for SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs), I help students manage emotions and build coping skills. For students with Autism, I establish structured environments with visual aids and routines to reduce anxiety. My strategies for ADHD involve active learning, frequent breaks, and multi-sensory experiences to enhance focus. With students experiencing PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), I adopt a flexible, non-confrontational style, framing tasks as “challenges.” Finally, I support SLCN (Speech, Language, and Communication Needs) through clear language, visual supports, and engaging exercises to enhance communication skills.
How I Teach Maths
I use a multi-sensory approach with visual aids, hands-on activities, and real-life applications to make abstract concepts more tangible. By breaking tasks into manageable steps and celebrating small wins, I build confidence and motivation, enhancing understanding and retention of mathematical concepts.
How I Teach English
I build literacy skills through engaging activities tailored to students’ interests and needs. From creating comic books and vlogs to composing song lyrics, my lessons make language come alive. I focus on specific areas like reading comprehension or communication skills, using storytelling, role-playing, and creative writing to foster a love for expression.
How I Help Students Communicate
I use role-play, social skills training incorporating real-life scenarios to practise social skills. My approach helps students articulate thoughts and feelings, creating a “feelings thermometer” has been a game-changer for some students struggling to express emotions.
How I Help Students Engage with Learning
I create lessons relevant to students’ interests and strengths, incorporating lots of creative activities. By connecting learning to their passions, I ignite curiosity and make concepts more accessible. This approach encourages exploration of new ideas and nurtures their intrinsic motivation.
How I Make Lessons Fun
Learning in my sessions is enjoyable! I integrate games, interactive activities, and hands-on projects to maintain high energy and enthusiasm. By allowing creative expression and incorporating students’ hobbies, I create an environment where they feel free to explore, take risks, and genuinely enjoy the learning process.
How I Help Students with Focus, Attention, and Emotional Regulation
I use evidence-based strategies to manage cognitive load and boost attention. Simple breathing exercises, fidget tools, and brain breaks are regular features. I teach students to recognise their optimal learning states, empowering them to self-regulate.
