Today on SEND Tutoring’s podcast we have Emma Hutchinson, who is the founder of Music House for Children and specialist in music for very young children, babies, and children with additional needs. She established Music House Courses to share skills in musical play.

Emma’s career spans over 30 years in music teaching, training, research and composition. With an MA in Early Childhood Music Emma developed multi-sensory approaches to teaching music whilst nurturing other areas of learning including life skills and communication. In 1994 she established Music House for Children (London) as a teaching and training school.

Emma developed several early years training courses (online and practical) to encourage practitioners and teachers to embed music into existing skills and qualifications. She is widely respected by early childhood communities in her continued passion for research and practice, and in particular her work with developing communication and life skills in young children with emerging needs.

Emma is the author of several music teaching books and story-tales and devised a range of hand-crafted instruments to nurture creative play and vocalising. Her collaborative spirit includes supporting music services, early childhood networks, and specialists around the world.
