It is no secret that there is a significant staffing problem in schools across the country. Teachers and pupils alike are struggling to cope with a lack of support staff, particularly in the area of SEND. It has been reported that schools are "being forced to hire applicants who are not suited to the job of supporting children with complex needs, simply so that they have another adult in the classroom." (The Guardian December 2022). This means that children may not be getting adequate support, as specialist and skilled support staff are leaving schools and becoming increasingly difficult to replace.
